The Padcaster Mini Kickstarts Production Dreams

The Padcaster is proud to announce the Kickstarter campaign Padcaster Mini: On-the-Fly Filmmaking With the iPad mini. The team behind The Padcaster hopes to remove the limit on creative possibilities with the addition of The Padcaster Mini to its lineup of tablet production tools. Money raised will be put toward the initial cost of designing, prototyping and manufacturing The Padcaster Mini. Shoot, edit and upload HD footage with the iPad mini and Padcaster Mini rig.

New York City, New York - The creators of the Original Padcaster and Padcaster Air transformed your iPad into a mobile production studio, putting form and function in league with your imagination. The Padcaster won the filmmaking community over with its elegant simplicity, and now they are ready to see the line of gear expand. "We're asked repeatedly when a version for the iPad mini will be released," says Josh Apter, the company's founder. To answer the call for a Padcaster Mini, the team behind The Padcaster is launching a Kickstarter campaign. "With the Original Padcaster and Padcaster Air Kit already in production, having been funded almost entirely out of pocket, it would be impossible to continue production while simultaneously researching and developing a Padcaster for the iPad mini."

Dubbed "a must have" by CNET with an outstanding 4.5-star review and featured in Apple's gorgeous new iPad Air "Your Verse" campaign, The Padcaster inspires innovative pro workflows while transforming enthusiasts into artists. Based on the same design as the Original Padcaster, The Padcaster Mini will feature a sturdy aluminum frame with a flexible insert, optimized for the iPad mini. Offering the same impressive 1080p HD video recording capabilities as the iPad Air in a smaller, lighter and more compact package, the iPad mini is the perfect Padcaster companion, making The Padcaster Mini a natural evolution in Padcaster production.

With a Kickstarter goal of $15,000 and 30 days to make it happen, the team behind The Padcaster hopes to remove the limit on creative possibilities with the addition of The Padcaster Mini to its lineup of tablet production tools. Money raised will be put toward the initial cost of designing, prototyping and manufacturing The Padcaster Mini. Those who back The Padcaster Mini Kickstarter campaign will receive exclusive perks, from a Padcaster of their choice to a baker's dozen of famous New York City bagels to a Livestream tutorial session with Padcaster inventor Josh Apter.

The Story Behind The Padcaster:
The Padcaster was conceived by real world users, field tested and thoughtfully designed to go everywhere you take your iPad. The Padcaster is a powerful iPad accessory, whether you're making memories or making history. It mounts to your tripod with no tools required, so any family or classroom member can set it up. It's lightweight enough for backpack broadcasters, versatile enough for shoulder mounting, and sturdy enough to stand on its own for editing or viewing. It's affordable too, so hobbyists can leapfrog over high-end gear prices, while achieving seriously pro-level results.

The Padcaster expands with you. Effortlessly add LED lights, an on-board microphone, audio interface, accessory clamp and a monopod to simulate an instant, all-in-one production studio. Edit and upload your professional-quality footage directly from the iPad to begin showing others not just the scene, but your unique perspective.

More On the Padcaster
The Padcaster continues to be recognized by many for its unique ability to transform the iPad into an on-the-go filmmaking device that facilitates and encourages creativity.

"The Padcaster is one of those accessories that pushes the Apple iPad beyond what most people do or would think of doing with it. It takes iPad Videography to the next level." - Joshua Goldman, CNET

"Anyone who is interested in using an iPad for filmmaking or broadcasting - either as an amateur or professionally - should consider getting the Padcaster. It's a brilliantly conceived and well-built accessory that should be extremely popular with the video and filmmaking crowd." - Steve Sande, TUAW

"The iPad is an amazing tool for shooting photos and video. It's not a case. It's not a fashion statement. It's a tool, a piece of pro-level gear. And for the people who recognize that, the Padcaster is an equally amazing, though simple way for them to use it for video production." - Bill Stiteler, Technology Tell

London, United Kingdom - Apps in My Pocket, developer of the abc PocketPhonics app that revolutionised literacy learning five years ago today marks its fifth anniversary. To celebrate, a new version of the app which is used in over 300 UK primary and pre-schools is being launched today and users will be able to download the updated app for free on February 7th. The new features, aimed at schoolteachers and parents, celebrate each advance children make as they learn groups of letter sounds on the iPad and iPhone.

Emailed Certificates:
As the child learns new groups of letter sounds, certificates of achievement can be emailed, and printed or shared on social media.

Advanced online progress tracking:
Parents and teachers track online the words and sounds the child is currently learning. Once a child has learnt a word is removed from the list of words the app is teaching them. It is then replaced by another word, until they have learnt all the words in that group of letter sounds.

Downloadable progress reports:
PocketPhonics already has teacher friendly features, like centralised progress tracking for groups and classes. Due to popular request, the new version now allows teachers to download progress reports as a spread sheet for more detailed analysis.

Dollar Up 1.0 - Exciting New App Teaches Money to Special Needs Kids

PKCLsoft today introduces Dollar Up 1.0, their new educational app for the iPad. Dollar Up is an app written expressly for use by special education teachers or parents of special needs children. The purpose of Dollar Up is to act as a teaching aid of the "Next Dollar Up" technique, a popular approach for teaching money skills to special needs individuals. This technique can help increase independence and empower individuals by teaching them how to use money and make their own purchases.

Melbourne, Australia - PKCLsoft today is proud to announce the release and immediate availability of Dollar Up 1.0, their new educational app for the iPad. Dollar Up is a teaching app written expressly for use by special education teachers or parents of special needs children. The purpose of Dollar Up is to serve as an aid in teaching the "Next Dollar Up" technique. This widely-used approach teaches money skills to students who have autism or intellectual disabilities and who are not able to learn how to count change. Dollar Up helps increase independence and empower individuals by teaching them how to use money and make their own purchases.

The "Next Dollar Up" method teaches students to listen for the whole dollar amount, then give one dollar more than that amount. For example, if the price is $6.45, the student hears $6, adds one more, and gives $7.00.  They also learn that if the price is below $1.00, for example $0.95, they give $1.00. If the price is a whole dollar amount, "Next Dollar Up" teaches students to give only that amount. Dollar Up has been developed to support classroom teaching and real life money practice. It is not intended to be the only educational tool used to teach the student. Dollar Up assumes that the student can already count with 1 to 1 correspondence and can recognize written numerals.

Feature Highlights:
* Clean and uncluttered user interface that is ideal for teaching Special Needs
* "Know What's Inside" app with no ads or in-app purchases
* 7 skill levels
* 2 built-in reward games
* Provides detailed reports (that can be emailed)
* Supports errorless teaching and learning
* Supports multiple students that can be configured independently
* Provides clear audio prompts
* Provides visual prompts that can be enabled where appropriate
* Built-in support for multiple currencies including Australian, United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and the European Union

Each lesson in the app aims to teach a different aspect of using money with the "Next Dollar Up" method. Users can opt to view a short introduction to "Next Dollar Up" with each lesson. Whenever a mistake is made during the lesson, the app will demonstrate (using both voice and animations) the correct answer to the student. After answering all the questions, students have the option to play a reward game of Balloon Pop or Coin Catch. Dollar Up generates a report for each lesson detailing the student's results including which questions were answered correctly and how many attempts were made to answer the question. Lesson results can be emailed from the Edit Profile page.

Dollar Up teaches the following lessons:
* Identifying whole dollar coins and notes up to the twenty dollar note
* Reading a price and finding $1 more
* Listening to a price and giving $1 more
* Counting the notes and coins on the screen
* Giving a requested amount
* Giving the amount applicable for a grocery item
* Comparing a price amount to money available

Dollar up has been designed to be clean and simple to use. Buttons are large for ease of use and there are no distractions on the screen such as ads. Multiple profiles can be set up in Dollar Up and each profile customized independently for each student. To access the student's profile settings, users tap on the student's name and select the Edit Profile icon. In addition to setting reward levels and denominations, the user can disable certain features such as showing the prices or score during play.

"Even in the testing phase, Dollar Up has received a lot of praise and positive feedback from parents and educators around the world," says Peter Easdown, founder of PKCLsoft. "By learning the ”Next Dollar Up" method, the student gains some independence in their money handling and they are less likely to be taken advantage of. Furthermore, I am a proud member of the "MOMs with apps” developer community and a contributor to the "Know What's Inside" program. Therefore, all of my kids apps will clearly state what (if any) data is collected and for what purpose. I do not include advertising or social media links in any of my educational apps that are written for use by young children.”

Device Requirements:
* iOS 5.1 or later
* iPad (all models)
* 50 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Dollar Up 1.0 is only $4.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Education category. Review copies are available upon request.

FileApp 4 the iPhone File Manager Rewritten and Redesigned

Geneva based DigiDNA announces FileApp 4.0.3, an update to its popular file and documents manager for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. FileApp reads many files types such as PDF, Microsoft Office documents and plays multimedia contents. FileApp will let you store files and folders on your iOS device just like Windows Explorer or the Finder on the Mac. The new app interface matches the iOS 7 style redesign and marks the beginning of a new era for FileApp.

Geneva, Switzerland - DigiDNA, a leader in iPhone document storage and file transfer with computers, is happy to announce the release of the fourth version of FileApp, its Free iPhone File System and PDF reader on the App Store. Embracing the new iOS 7 interface design style the app now reveals a totally uncluttered interface. Leaving aside aesthetic considerations this restyling renders the app easier to use as ever before.

The simplified Home screen has a new Sharing button giving access to all file sharing options. We added an all new computer browser file sharing feature that allows to drag and drop multiple files wirelessly from a computer's Internet browser directly into FileApp. Now both Http and Ftp file sharing modes can be protected with a username and passcode.

We also added a swipe gesture to reveal file actions and file deletion. The photo picker has been tweaked to better add multiple images to FileApp from the device's photo library. To ensure the broadest PDF support we restored the dual PDF reader option allowing to use the iOS built-in or the custom annotation PDF editor freshly revised for iOS 7.

Instead of offering a free and a paying version the free/In-App purchases model allows for easier app trial, simplified upgrade and fair pricing. The premium features are now offered through a choice of 3 premium features Add-On packs, allowing users to customize the app according to their needs. DigiDNA will now keep its focus on a single app and FileApp Pro users are encouraged to migrate to the New FileApp where they will get all features they previously owned for free. (This feature itself is a technical premiere that has been already noted by several tech writers, for more details please check out DigiDNA's Team Blog linked to the Company's Website).

Two easy ways of transferring data from FileApp Pro have been designed. One method works using a computer - with DiskAid through an automated migration tool (free download and no license purchase or registration required). The other way is simply achieved on the device using FileApp Pro Zip archive creation and Open-In feature.

With the new FileApp, DigiDNA has gone all out on iPhone file storage performance. The whole app has been rewritten to offer the most stable and reliable FileApp ever. Moreover thanks to the merge between FileApp Pro and FileApp the Development Team is now focused on a new and modular single app that will allow them to quickly release new exciting features in the upcoming months.

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
* Requires iOS 6.0 or later
* 23.4 MB

Pricing and Availability:
FileApp 4.0.3 is Free and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Productivity category.

Peine, Germany - Longtime Macintosh developer and publisher, Lemke Software GmbH today is pleased to announce the release and immediate availability of GraphicConverter 9.1, an important update to its popular image utility for Mac OS X. A PCMag Editor's Choice Recipient, GraphicConverter is an all-around image editing program that features image conversion from more than 200 file formats. GraphicConverter is fully compatible with different Mac OS versions, including the latest OS X 10.9 Mavericks.

Feature Highlights:
* Comfortable and simplified user interface
* Ability to open files in 200 graphics formats
* Ability to export in almost 80 different formats
* Powerful batch processor feature
* Fully compatible with OS X 10.9

"GraphicConverter does more things with more formats than any other application I've ever seen on any platform," says Edward Mendelson of PCMagazine. "And if you're a non-professional who needs high-quality image manipulation and conversion on a Mac, it's both the only choice and our Editors' Choice." (26 Nov 2012)

Version 9.1 includes several new features such as non-destructive image editing and undo in the browser.
A new Cocooner editing mode allows users to make modifications to the image appearance while keeping their original image data unchanged. As a result, users can adjust the brightness and contrast of an image, crop and rotate it, save it, and then revert the image to its original state at any time in the future or continue editing it without any loss of quality. GraphicConverter will also export the altered image to all of the supported formats.

In the newest version of GraphicConverter, most of the file and folder operations performed in the application's own browser can be undone. For example, if a file or folder is deleted accidentally, the user can press Command-Z or choose Undo from the Edit menu to restore it.

There are a variety of additions including the ability to drag vertical or horizontal by pressing the shift key, modifications to the menus and toolbox, and browsing capability of local copies of cloud services like DropBox, SkyDrive, Copy, Amazon Cloud and Google Drive. GraphicConverter also has the ability to convert to color profile and extract images from PDF to concert and modify. Additional new features include:

* added average batch and effect
* added import of .422 (created by Magic Lantern)
* added attach to e-mail menu item
* added fast mode to improved speed of operator dramatically
* added antialias for pen tool
* added crop content batch
* added option to show a RAW indicator for raw files in the browser
* added option to show the label color larger in the browser
* added save, undo and redo icons to the toolbox
* added convert to color profile
* added copy foreground/background color as html to edit/copy/ submenu
* added support for ithmb files with JPEG compressed content
* added option to display color mode of images in browser

Furthermore, GraphicConverter 9.1 has made several enhancements to existing functionality. They are:

* Option to disable storage of printer settings added
* Manual rename of a single file in the browser will now also rename an existing xmp file
* Save for Web opens the save file panel with only the filename selected
* Browser will ignore "InodeMetaMod" events from network drives to avoid too many refreshes
* Extraction of jpeg thumbnails from exif data will store the thumbs with the source file date
* Xe847 preview supports the display with color profile
* 16-bit per channel support to import and export of png added
* Improved concat in convert and modify
* Improved notification dialog if a camera is connected
* Core image filters preview uses the color profile (if available)

MacReview concurs. "GraphicConverter is quite powerful and could be easily compared to a Photoshop, for example. Conversion is quite fast and effortless, and could be done individually or in batches of images. GraphicConverter is a very helpful application. It performs well, and cleverly combines a browser, converter, and an image editor." (9 Mar 2013)

"The idea for GraphicConverter occurred more than twenty years ago when I wanted to convert my entire picture collection into one of the standard Mac formats," says GraphicConverter founder, Thorsten Lemke. "Unfortunately there weren't any programs available that could do this so I created a program to accomplish this job myself. When I finally offered GraphicConverter to other users on a shareware basis, an impressive track record of successes began. Today GraphicConverter has more than 1.5 million users worldwide and is one of the most used and loved programs on the shareware market. This program has even impressed Apple, who include GraphicConverter as a pre-installed application on many of their computers.

"GraphicConverter's level of success is naturally based upon the quality of the program but also to the commitment of loyal GraphicConverter users everywhere," Lemke continues. "Their suggestions and ideas have actively supported the development of the program and helped us develop this conversion tool into the professional image editing program it is today. This close corroboration with our users is an important reason why qualified and timely support is a mandate at Lemkesoft. For example, every day I personally answer between 200 to 300 e-mails from users worldwide. Additionally, there are regular program updates which add new or extended features to GraphicConverter on a nearly monthly basis. The main focus and passion of Lemkesoft is focused on the maintenance and further development of GraphicConverter - a product which, for many users, is as natural a part of their Mac as Apple's operating system itself."
